Free Essays on The Zodiac

Language Cultures The Zodiac It is believed that the zodiacal signs originated in Mesopotamia as early as 2000 BC. The Greeks adopted the symbols from the Babylonians and passed them on to the other ancient civilizations. The Egyptians assigned other names and symbols to the zodiacal divisions. The Chinese also adopted the 12-fold division, but called the signs rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, serpent, horse, sheep, monkey, hen, dog, and pig. Independently, the Aztec people devised a similar system. A horoscope is divided into twelve sections, called the signs of the Zodiac, which include Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Astrologers assign every planet (which in astrology includes the sun and moon) with a particular sign, depending on where that planet appears on the ecliptic at the time for which the horoscope is cast. Each planet represents basic human drives, and each sign represents a set of human characteristics. When astrologers designate a person as a certain sign- a Leo or a Pisces, for example- they are referring to the person's sun sign- that is, the sign that the sun occupied at the time of the person's birth. The horoscope also is divided into twelve houses, which make up the 24-hour period during which the earth rotates once on its axis. Each house deals with certain areas of a person's life, such as marriage, health, work, travel, and death. Astrologers make predictions by interpreting the position of astronomical bodies within the signs and houses of the horoscope. zodiac Signs of the Zodiac Constellation English Name Symbol Dates Aries The Ram Mar. 21-Apr. 19 Taurus The Bull Apr. 20-May 20 Gemini The Twins May 21-June 21 Cancer The Crab June 22-July 22 Leo The Lion July 23-Aug. 22 Virgo The Virgin Aug. 23-Sept. 22 Libra The Balance Sept. 23-Oct. 23 Scorpio The Scorpion Oct. 24-Nov. 21 Sagittarius The Arch... beatles report essays ?It Won't Be Long? by Lennon/McCartney It won't be long yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah) It won't be long yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah) It won't be long yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah) Note: parenthesis added to emphasize that the lyric is largely backup to main line It won't be long yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah) It won't be long yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah) It won't be long yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah), yeah, (yeah) Now you?re coming, you?re coming home, You?re coming home, you?re coming home. Ev?ry night the tears come down from my eyes, Ev?ry day I?ve done nothing but cry. Now I know you won't leave me no more (mo) Chorus (?Till I belong to you?, is sung slowly with a pause before falsettoyou?, which is accompanied by descending chords on guitar for ajazzy? ending. It could be argued that it is a short coda.) This song presents a challenge as to identifying the parts of the song. It could easily be argued that the two lines that begin with,Ev?ry are the verses and the, yeah, yeah...? portion is a refrain with the other lyrics being the chorus. I feel however that the 'story? portion of the song begins withSince you left me It is odd that the verses would have identical lyrics, yet it is actually quite common to have repeating verses. Furthermore, I feel that the two lines, beginning withEv?ry?, are much more powerful as a refrain for they are shorter and lead into the chorus very well. Lastly, the chorus usually has thehook? or the part that everybody remembers. Theyeah, yeahs? offer such a melody and remain in one's mind long after the song is over. George and Paul's back up vocals add tremendous energy and help create movement in the song's slower sections. Even though they are singing they same lines as John, they act more like strings backing up they main melody. They offer a slightly contrasting melody that is resolved at the,You?...

Project - Research Paper Example Boxall and Purcell portend that in addition to industrial relations, human relations includes other human resource aspects such as employee development, employee remuneration and employee safety among others. This makes industrial relations a crucial aspect of management for the current managers. This is because it recognises the importance of human relations in the current business environment. The book asserts that human resource management came into existence due to the impact of the situational variables. These variables led to alteration of the management principles that guided employee behaviour. The universal outlook of dealing with employees had to be abandoned in favour of recognition of the workforce as an asset of any organisation, dynamic in thought and functioning. The changes in the political, socio-economic and technological environment has led to the rise in the management challenges related to globalisation, quality evolution, diversity management, employee ,empowerment and corporate reorganisation. The paper asserts that the impact of the challenges depends on the mode in which the management handles financial resources, machines and workforce. The paper addresses the need for the organisational managers to develop organisational strategies that utilises and develops the human resources in the improvement of the business activities. The proposed strategy guides on the impacts of employee welfare with emphasis on the importance of providing greater opportunities for knowledge sharing and learning as the pillars of motivation. This delineates the traditional aspects of human resource management to the current ones. The findings of Kersley et al survey affirm that human resource management functions deals with the management of people. It includes all the practices that enable proper utilisation of the human personnel in various stages of the employment cycle
